The Graceful Envelope Contest 2015










Once a year the Washington Calligraphers Guild and the National Association of Letter Carriers, hosts a creative envelope contest, open to all ages.

slippery slope envelopeThis year’s theme  “There’s No Place Like Home”, which you may interpret to mean your house, or a place you used to live in. It could depict different seasons and the activities that go into the true meaning of a home sweet home.  Interpret it however you like, just be creative and don’t forget the stamp. A real stamp that is, or else the post office won’t deliver it.

The envelopes will be judged on artistic hand lettering, creativity and your interpretation of this year’s theme. Coordinating colors and designs, even right down to how the postage stamp is included in the whole designpresident envelopes

Entries are sorted into the following groups;

Adult – Grades 9-12 – Grades 5-8 – Grades 1-4



There is no entry fee, and all you have to do to enter is to decorate an envelope and mail it, before March 30th to:

It’s a lot of fun and is also meant to celebrate the role of how letters are connecting us to each other and, also the pride that our mail carriers take in their work and their community.
