Warning! Are Your Emails Going Straight to Spam?

If you’re sending out an email campaign and the FROM line is from a free email service like Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail address then you need to know t!

SpartyMailMost SOCIAL media people, who regularly send out email newsletters or run campaigns, would never think of using their free email service in the FROM line. If you are, then you have to know that you are hurting you email delivery success. I know it’s free, easy and a lot less work, but what good is that if it never gets delivered.

Here’s the problem. A few months ago Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, etc changed the way they filter out spam in email boxes.

The current standard of authentications is called DMARC  and because of the new rules they put into place, emails started to be rejected. Lots of them! What DMARC does is verify whether an email, that is supposed to be from you, really is from you.

Now this is important: if you are sending your email campaign through an email marketing service like, AWeber or Mailchimp and you’re using an @gmail.com or @yahoo.com as your FROM address. Then Gmail is reporting back that they don’t guarantee that you are who you say you are. Off you go to the Spam box.

Don’t worry, there’s a simple way to fix it so your Email gets delivered. Just change your FROM address to one at your website’s domain, info@yourdomain.com. Just get a hold of your service provider that hosts your domain and ask them. I’m sure they would be very happy to guide you through this simple process.

The money is in the list – we hear this all the time. So, don’t waste any more time or effort on your email marketing until you take care of this problem.
